Germany: Import Prices See Sharpest Spike Since 2022
In March 2026, the cost of imports surged by 2.3% year-over-year, hitting its highest growth rate since early 2025. This represents a dramatic reversal from the negative price growth observed just one month earlier. On a month-to-month basis, import prices jumped 3.6%—the most significant monthly increase recorded since the energy crisis sparked in March 2022. While export prices also climbed, their growth was more stable, rising 1.5% annually and 1.1% since February.
